Wow! The Silver Hawks had a great game last night sweeping Dayton thanks to a spectacular 4th inning 3-run homer by Collin Cowgill. The Hawks beat the Dragons 4-3 and will now battle the Burlington Bees for the 2008 Midwest League Championship!
The players were so excited after the win last night and they hopped right on the bus to head to Burlington, IA. They will play games 1 and 2 on the road before heading back to the Cove. We'll play at home on Friday at 6:30 followed by Game 4 (if necessary) at noon on Saturday and Game 5 (if necessary) at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday.
I'm busy spreading the word so we can pack the park and cheer on the Hawks. I heard there is some football game going on in town this weekend, but winning a Midwest League Championship sounds much more exciting to me.
