Silver vs. Gold - NEW DATE

Brrr!

While it looks like winter is officially upon us, we're still thinking baseball here at the Cove. I just received word this week that there is a date change for the annual Silver vs. Gold exhibition game which slates the Silver Hawks against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish... the new date is Monday, April 5th, 5:30 at the Cove. Rumor has it that individual game tickets will be going on sale early this year!

I had a great time last Saturday out at the WNDU station with Rob & AJ from U93. We were helping with the annual Toys for Tots drive. Tonight I'm heading out to the Goshen Boys & Girls Club for their annual Christmas party... can't wait!

Don't forget the Silver Hawks have great ideas for holiday gifts... souvenirs, gift certificates and ticket packages to fit any budget!

Hawks End Regular Season with a Win!

Greetings!

The Silver Hawks wrapped up the regular season on Monday afternoon with a 4-3 victory over the Lansing Lugnuts. The players had a delayed celebration for clinching a playoff spot following the game... I stayed clear of all the champagne spraying.

So, we're headed to the playoffs for the 7th straight year and the players seem pretty excited about it. I am too - I just wish we had more fans turn out to help me cheer on the guys during the playoffs!

We'll take on the Fort Wayne TinCaps this Wednesday (tomorrow!) here at the Cove. Game time is 6:30 p.m. and the gates will open at 5:30 p.m. Mike's Car Wash is providing the first 500 fans with a FREE $10 car wash! Do the math... you'll actually be saving money if you buy a ticket and are one of the first 500 fans through the gates.

GO 'HAWKS!

It was certainly exciting last night to be able to tune into ESPN Radio 1490 and listen to Owen's broadcast of the game. It's been quite awhile since the Hawks have been on the air and it's great to be able to follow the team while their on the road.

It was a slow start as we lost to West Michigan last night, but it's a whole new ballgame tonight so remember to tune in or log onto www.SILVERHAWKS.com. The front office folks told me we still have some commercial spots open so for just $200 a month, you can have a 30-second commercial during every Silver Hawks broadcast. Call 574-235-9988 for more information.

If you haven't done so already, sign up for Hawk Talk, the Silver Hawks e-newsletter. Newsletter subscribers will receive special offers through the season... today it was an Opening Day Suite for just $100!

Don't forget - the Hawks return home for the home opener on Monday, April 13th! It's U93 and Pepsi Dollar Monday with $1 reserved seat tickets, hot dogs and Pepsi products. We'll also be celebrating Dyngus Day.

See you at the Cove!

Dyngus Day at the Cove

This bird continues to learn something new every day! Turns out Opening Day is also Dyngus Day which is another great reason to come out to the Cove and celebrate the start of another season of exciting Silver Hawks Baseball.

Dyngus Day is well known in South Bend as a traditional Polish celebration of the end of Lent. Locally, it also signifies the start of the political season although it is a relatively quiet year for us.

So, now we have Opening Day, Dyngus Day and Dollar Monday all on April 13th! Reserved seat tickets, hot dogs and soft drinks will be just $1.00! There is also a special Dyngus Day ticket available for $10 which provides you with a ticket to the Upper Deck, an all-you-can-eat Polish buffet from 5:30 to 8:00 while waiting the exciting action on the field.

Get your tickets today!

See you at the Cove (soon!)

Thanks!

Thanks to all the Silver Hawks Fans and job seekers that came out to the Cove last Saturday! The turnout was better than ever for all the fun jobs we have here this summer.

I also want to thank all the area students for signing up for my Reading Club - would you believe that we have over 14,000 participants. Talk about a lot of books! I'll have to step up my reading just to catch up. Don't forget - the more you read, the more prizes you'll receive. Most importantly, if you reach home plate, you will receive two free tickets and the chance to come out and see me at the Cove.

Silver Hawks on the air!

Have you heard the exciting news? The Silver Hawks have partnered with ESPN Radio 1490 AM to broadcast all the Silver Hawks games this year - including the Silver vs. Gold exhibition game against Notre Dame and all playoff games. Now we will all be able to follow the team on the road!
Thanks to our new radio deal, we have a new face joining the front office staff! Owen Serey will be the "Voice of Silver Hawks Baseball" and will be joining the staff in March. We're pretty excited to have him on board - he knows the league and spent the last few season with the Dayton Dragons.

Have you visited our new website yet? If not, be sure to check it out as there is all kinds of great information. Be sure to sign up for our weekly newsletter while you're there - I heard the front office folks are getting ready to announce the new name.... I voted a couple of times so hopefully my favorite name wins!

Stay tuned... there is more exciting information about this season to come!

Red Shoes??

Greetings Silver Hawks Fans!

I was a little leery when those front office folks told me I needed to find a pair of red shoes for a press conference this morning, but I have to say, it was a nice change of pace.

We just made a big announcement this morning about a new event called the YWCA's Walk a Mile in Her Shoes in which men in our community will walk a mile in a women's red high heeled shows to raise funds and awareness about violence against women.

Now I tried to find some high heels in my size, but no luck! Hopefully I can find some actual heels for the event on April 4th here at the Cove.

I do have to say... Silver Hawks President Joe Kernan looks pretty good in his heels... what do you think?

It's for a great cause and I know I'm honored to be included in the event. Visit silverhawks.com or ywcasjc.org to learn more and register for the event.

BRRR!

Wow! It's hard to think about baseball when we have all this snow. Believe it or not, Opening Day is just 93 days away (check out my nifty countdown below), but the action on the field will actually start the week before with the 2nd Annual Silver vs. Gold Exhibition Game. The Silver Hawks will take on the University of Notre Dame Baseball Team. The Silver Hawks won last year and I know they can do it again - afterall, we're talking professional baseball here!

I know I keep talking about it, but I'm so excited about my new Reading Club! Close to 13,000 area students have joined and we are going to have so much fun. It's great that so many kids are excited about reading!

Things are getting pretty busy around the Silver Hawks office - you should give us a call! We have all kinds of great ticket packages, picnics, Field of Dreams and Birthday Party packages that you can book today.

Stay warm... baseball season is just around the corner!
