We have a great homestand coming up! The Silver Hawks staff has packed this weekend with some great entertainment and fun for fans of all ages! Friday night is Welcome Coach Brian Kelly Night! Brian Kelly is the new head coach of the Notre Dame Football team, and what better way to welcome him to the Michiana community that allow him to throw out the first pitch at a Silver Hawks home game. Not only will he be throwing out the first pitch, but he has agreed to have an autograph session throughout the third inning of the game! How EXCITING!! You won't want to miss out!
Saturday, the Silver Hawks are hosting the second annual Bellies and Baseball event. This year Bellies and Baseball is bigger and better!! Courtesy of Memorial Hospital we will have Lamaze on the field for expecting mothers from 4:30 - 5:00. Memorial Hospital will also provide information and demonstrations for expecting mothers and fathers. The best part of this event is the FABULOUS prizes that we are giving away. Memorial Hospital is giving away a CAR SEAT, books, and free Lamaze classes. Other businesses and vendors are also participating in the event. One lucky mother-to-be might go home with a stroller, car seat, baby Bjorn, and SO MUCH MORE!! Thank you to Orange Tree, Natural Way, Stroller Fit, and Memorial Health and Lifestyle Center for donating prizes! ATTENTION ALL MOMS AND DADS!! YOU DON'T WANT TO MISS THIS EVENT!
And finally Sunday, we are celebrating Father's Day at The Cove. The first 100 father that enter the stadium will receive a free car wash courtesy of Mike's Car Wash. The Silver Hawks players are going old school and stepping back in time to the Studebaker era. The Silver Hawks players and coaches will all be wearing Studebaker replica jerseys courtesy of the Farmer's Market. Be apart of history with the South Bend Silver Hawks!
It is short three days, but we are jamming them full of exciting events and entertainment! Bring the family and friends to The Cove! Kick back with a hot dog and soft drink and enjoy America's past time.
Also, check out the GREAT renovations at The Cove. We now have new restrooms and a netting system! The netting system is UNBELIEVABLE, you feel like you are right on the field with the players! SO COOL!!

A lot has been going on at The Cove since the beginning of May. We had a great School Day on May 3rd! Thanks to all those who participated! It was great to see so many familiar faces cheering on the team and dancing with me to the Chicken Dance and YMCA. Looking for another great School Day tomorrow. We are going to have over 4,000 teachers and students in our stadium. I can't wait!! Get ready for some exciting baseball, great food, and FUN!
So... have any of you met or found my friend Heraldo? Ha! Heraldo is Waldo's cousin, and he loves playing hide and go seek in the stadium. I have yet to find him this season! He wears a stocking cap, a red striped shirt and blue pants! Next time you come to The Cove be on the lookout for him but watch out because he likes to change hiding places.
Also, be on the lookout for me and the Silver Hawks Hawk Squad in the community! My great friends and I will be visiting a variety of locations this season to promote all the fun events we have scheduled at The Cove.
Don't forget... Tonight is Twofer Tuesday. GET TWO TICKETS FOR THE PRICE OF ONE. Log onto the WAOR website to receive this special promotion. http://www.waor.com/ Look forward to seeing you!

Off to a Great Start!
We are off to a great start this season! The team is currently 9-12 and is starting a four game homestand against the West Michigan Whitecaps tonight at 6:30pm. Help cheer on your South Bend Silver Hawks to a victory tonight at The Cove!
We have had some great promotions that the last few weeks at The Cove. We introduced our Community Partnerships Program and celebrated exceeding 1,000 Community Service Hours this season. Last Tuesday, we invited all our community partners to the game to promote how Silver Hawks fans can lend a helping hand in the community. It was a great communitywide event and we look forward to our partners getting more involved as the season continues!
The staff and yours truly had a great time dressing up and acting silly for Halfway to Halloween last Wednesday! It was great to see everyone in costume and having a good time. We had many gory mummies and zombies, but my favorite costume was the zombie pirate from Pirates of the Caribbean. HE ACTUALLY HAD SEA SHELLS STUCK TO HIS FACE! He was the winner of the adult division of the costume contest and won 2 free round trip tickets courtesy of Allegiant Air. There will be more opportunities this season to dress up and act crazy so stay tuned!!
Tonight's weather is supposed to BEAUTIFUL! So head on down to the Coveleski Stadium tonight for great action on the field and fun entertainment! We are celebrating Arbor Day at The Cove and every fan will receive a tree sapling courtesy of American Tree Care. See you at The Cove!

Few Short Weeks till Season Opener
Can you believe that we only have 13 more days until the Notre Dame Exhibition game on April 5th?! Wow!! I have a lot to do until then! The cleaning crew is hard at work at The Cove to get the stadium ready for the first game. I have been working hard alongside them by cutting the grass, weeding, washing the concourse floors, painting, and so much more! It's a lot of work for a small bird like myself (especially since ol' Swoop has packed on a few pounds during the winter months) Don't worry I will be in dancing shape before the start of the first game!
Great news! My reading club is coming to a close in the next few weeks! We had a record high of 14,478 students participate in the reading club program this season! THAT IS UNBELIEVABLE! I am so proud of all my readers, and I hope to see them at all the Reading Club baseball games. I have been very impressed during my visits to local schools to hear the amount of time students have read in the months of February and March. One student managed to read a total of 30 hours in the month of February! WOW! Like I say to all my reading club members... All I ask is that you try your personal best! If you try your best you will always succeed!
In the upcoming weeks I will be making appearances to Warren Primary and Millersburg Elementary for their Reading Awards Ceremonies. I will also be making special visits to The University of Notre Dame to promote the Notre Dame exhibition game and pass out tickets to lucky Notre Dame students. Keep your eyes peeled! You never know where I am going to show up next! I am very very sneaky! Ha!
GO HAWKS!

SPRING IS HERE!
The snow has finally melted, the birds are chirping (including your favorite mascot), flowers are budding, so it MUST mean it's TIME TO PLAY BALL! 28 MORE DAYS UNTIL THE 2010 SEASON STARTS! It'll be here before you know it. Remember tickets go on sale at the Box Office this Saturday at 10 am. Don't forget that you can always buy them online! www.silverhawks.com
As many of you know I am visiting different locations in the Michiana area. Last week I visited two elementary schools: Trinity Lutheran in Elkhart and Moccasin Elementary in Buchanan, MI. I LOVED VISITING THESE TWO SCHOOLS! Not only did I get to read my two favorite books, but the children were lively and energetic! We cheered, we danced, we shook our tailfeathers!
The children at Trinity Lutheran School had Pajama Day and were allowed to wear their pajamas, robes, and slippers to school and bring their favorite stuffed animal. Too bad I left my pajamas at home! It was so much fun! We read Curious George goes to a Baseball Game and Casey at the Bat. Stayed tuned for pictures of our reading extravaganza.
Be on the lookout for me at other great events in the Michiana area! I will be a participant in the St. Patrick's Day parade in downtown South Bend this Saturday, March 13th at 11 am. Stop on by to see all the great St. Patrick's Day floats!
Go Silver Hawks!

Kick-off to Summer
Can you believe it!! 39 more days until the season starts with the Notre Dame Exhibition game! I am starting to get the itch for summer with all this cold weather we've been having. I am ready to escape the cold and enjoy the warm weather! To satisfy my cravings for summer, I will be appearing at the 2010 Michiana Summer Camp Fair at the Century Center between 11 am - 1 pm. Not only will I be celebrating the start to the baseball season, but I will be helping the Silver Hawks set up a booth to promote our two Summer Programs: Swoop's Sidekicks and Baseball Academy.
Swoop's Sidekicks is a Kid's Club for children under the age of thirteen. Every Swoop Sidekick receives special prizes for being an official member including free tickets to every Sunday game and free access to the Fun Zone. It's an unbelievable club! A special offer this year is an exclusive Team Party in the Fun Zone with an autograph session with Swoop and the players! No kid will want to miss out!
The Silver Hawks will be hosting two Baseball Academies this summer. The Hitting Academy will be held on June 19th from 9am - noon. The Pitching and Catching Academy is on July 8th from 9 am - noon. The academies are for children ages 8-16. What child wouldn't want to spend a day playing baseball with The Silver Hawks (and ME!!!) on a Minor League field?
I hope all of you can make it out to The Century Center to see me! But if you can't and you want more information about these programs, log onto our website: www.silverhawks.com.
Hope to see you this Saturday!!!

Flying to a Location Near You
I know it may not look like Spring outside, but the countdown until the start of the 2010 South Bend Silver Hawks season is 46 days! Yay! Get excited! I am ready to shake my tail feathers, are you? Just so you know... tickets are going on sale online March 1st and at the box office on March 13th. You DO NOT want to miss out on all the fun entertainment and action this season! SO BUY YOUR TICKETS NOW!
As I told you before, I have been working very hard this past month by visiting different schools, community centers, and businesses in the Michiana area. Recently, the Silver Hawks manager, Mark Haley, and I visited Healthwin, a local rehabilitation center. Haley and I had a blast talking and playing BINGO with the residents. We surprised all the BINGO winners with Silver Hawks souvenirs. They enjoyed all of their prizes and had even more fun telling us stories about their own baseball experiences. I can't wait to go back! However, before I visit again I am going to have to work on my BINGO skills, because it seemed like the residents had all the luck!
Stay tuned for more stories of my adventures in the Michiana area. You never know when I might just fly in for a visit!

Swoop's Reading Club
I'm very excited about kicking off my second annual Swoop's Reading Club program! We have close to 14,000 area students enrolled in the program. We've partnered with TCU and program participants will receive some great prizes as they accomplish their reading goals in the class room.
I'm also pretty excited about visiting area classrooms and doing some reading with the Silver Hawks staff. If you know of a school or organization that would be interested in spending some time with me, tell them to fill out an appearance request form on our website and we'll get in touch to schedule an event!
I'm off to do some reading... catch you soon!
